What Is the Einbürgerungstest?

The Einbürgerungstest (German citizenship test) is an official examination required for naturalisation in Germany. It is administered by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and consists of 33 questions drawn from a published catalogue of 300 general questions plus 10 state-specific questions for your Bundesland.

To pass, you need to answer at least 17 out of 33 questions correctly (roughly 52%). The test is available in German only.

What This Tool Offers

Disclaimer: This is an independent, unofficial practice tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to BAMF, the German federal government, or any state authority. All question content is sourced from the publicly available official BAMF question catalogue (Gesamtfragenkatalog zum Leben in Deutschland).

Who Built This?

This tool was built by someone who went through the German naturalisation process and found existing practice resources lacking — either paywalled, poorly designed, or missing state-specific questions. The goal is simple: give everyone free, high-quality access to the complete official question set.
